In the early hours of a Sunday morning in Rochester, New York, a dispute inside a local bar escalated to a fatal encounter that left two men dead. Frank Rosario Vazquez, a 43-year-old man, was one of the victims in the double homicide that transpired on February 11, 2024. The night took a tragic turn after Vazquez and another man, 49-year-old Wahid Nazario, were involved in an altercation with another individual inside the King and Queen Cantina on North Goodman Street.
Following the
dispute, all three men were removed from the establishment by bouncers. The conflict, however, did not end there. The suspect, identified as 42-year-old Hector Ramos-Diaz, was ejected from the bar first. He then waited for Vazquez and Nazario to exit. As the two men made their way to their vehicle, Ramos-Diaz ambushed them, firing at least 18 shots. Both Vazquez and Nazario were struck by multiple gunshots and were pronounced dead at the scene, their bodies found lying in the street.
In the wake of the shooting, law enforcement began an investigation that quickly identified Ramos-Diaz as the primary suspect. It was discovered that he had fled to Puerto Rico in an attempt to evade capture. Rochester police, in collaboration with other agencies, located and apprehended Ramos-Diaz. He was subsequently extradited back to Rochester to face charges for the killings.
Once in custody, Hector Ramos-Diaz was charged with first and second-degree murder. In November 2025, he pleaded guilty in court to two counts of first-degree manslaughter. Under a plea agreement, Ramos-Diaz faces a sentence of 25 years in prison, followed by five years of post-release supervision for his role in the deaths of Frank Rosario Vazquez and Wahid Nazario.
