On April 14, 2024, Lieutenant Michael "Hootch" Hoosock, 37, of the Onondaga County Sheriff's Office, was fatally shot during a confrontation with a suspect in Liverpool, New York. Earlier that evening, Syracuse Police Officer Michael Jensen attempted to stop a vehicle for a traffic violation; however, the driver fled, leading officers on a high-speed pursuit.
