On July 28, 2024, a tragic incident unfolded at Maplewood Park in Rochester, New York, during a community barbecue attended by hundreds. At approximately 6:20 p.m., gunfire erupted, resulting in the deaths of two women and injuries to five others. The victims were identified as 25-year-old Tyasia Manning, a city employee, and 34-year-old Phylicia Council, an event planner.
