Death by Force

On September 2, 2024, during Brooklyn's West Indian American Day Parade, 25-year-old Denzel A. Chan was fatally shot. The incident occurred around 2:30 p.m. near Franklin Avenue and Eastern Parkway, where a gunman opened fire into the crowd, striking Chan in the abdomen. He was transported to Kings County Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
