On a summer night in Atlanta, the life of 25-year-old Brandon Atkins, a Black male, was tragically cut short. On July 30, 2011, Atkins and another man, 36-year-old John Smith Jr., were found shot to death inside a house in the 3000 block of Waters Road in southeast Atlanta. The discovery was made in what authorities described at the time as an apparent home invasion.
