In a tragic turn of events on January 6, 2023, Troy Millick, a 33-year-old White male, lost his life in a fatal shooting in Maryland Heights, Missouri. The incident unfolded at PrideStaff, a staffing agency on Dorsett Road, where Millick was an employee. Just before 12:30 p.m., a former employee of the business, identified as 28-year-old Justin Davis, allegedly entered the establishment and attempted to rob Millick and two other employees at gunpoint.
Following the robbery, Millick made
a courageous attempt to prevent the suspect from escaping. He got into a vehicle to pursue Davis, who then fired two shots, striking and fatally wounding Millick in an alley outside the business. This violent act was the second workplace shooting to occur on the same road in Maryland Heights within a two-day period.
Law enforcement officials apprehended Justin Davis later that same day. Upon his arrest, authorities discovered Millick's personal belongings inside Davis's vehicle. During questioning, Davis reportedly admitted to taking the items and shooting at Millick.
The St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney's Office has since filed multiple charges against Davis, including one count of second-degree murder, four counts of armed criminal action, and three counts of first-degree robbery. Following the charges, Davis was held at the St. Louis County Justice Center on a $5 million, cash-only bond.
