In the late evening of January 31, 2023, the life of 21-year-old Dmitri Carr, a Black/African American male, was cut short by gunfire in Kansas City, Missouri. The incident occurred at approximately 10:45 p.m. near the intersection of Brighton Avenue and 24th Street. Kansas City police officers were dispatched to the area following reports of a shooting.
Upon their arrival, officers discovered Carr inside a vehicle, suffering from gunshot wounds.
Despite the prompt response from emergency medical services, his injuries proved fatal, and he was pronounced dead at the scene. The initial investigation suggested that the shooting happened in that vicinity, turning a city street into a crime scene.
In the months that have followed the deadly shooting, authorities have not publicly identified any suspects or announced any arrests in connection with Carr's death.
