On April 21, 2023, the White female Judy Conti, aged 79, was discovered deceased in her residence near Springfield, Missouri. Greene County deputies were dispatched to the home located in the 4800 block of South Ridgecrest Drive during the late morning hours, approximately 11:45 a.m., following a request for a well-being check initiated by a family member.
Upon entering the property, law enforcement officials located Conti’s body alongside that of her husband, 84-year-old Wayne Conti.
Investigators determined that both individuals had sustained gunshot wounds which proved fatal. The scene was immediately secured and processed by Greene County detectives who examined the premises for evidence of external involvement. The assessment of the home revealed no signs of forced entry, leading authorities to categorize the incident as a domestic tragedy rather than a random act of violence. The Greene County Sheriff’s Office subsequently announced that there was no immediate threat to the general public, indicating that the event was contained within the residence.
The investigation was officially treated as a possible murder-suicide. Due to the nature of the findings and the presence of both the victim and the likely perpetrator at the scene, law enforcement did not pursue any outside suspects in connection with the deaths. No arrests were made, and the case was closed without criminal charges filed against any surviving parties, as the primary person of interest was determined to be deceased at the scene.
