The evening of June 1, 2023, turned violent in the Downtown West neighborhood of St. Louis, Missouri, when gunfire erupted near a public landmark. Just before 9:00 p.m., first responders were called to the 1200 block of Chestnut Street, specifically to Poelker Park.
