On July 5, 2023, at approximately 12:30 a.m., 37-year-old Wade Featherston was fatally shot in the 4100 block of Chippewa Street, near its intersection with Gravois Avenue in St. Louis's Dutchtown neighborhood. A 36-year-old woman accompanying him sustained injuries in the same incident. She informed police that an individual on a motorcycle had driven by and opened fire on them; she was unaware of any motive for the attack. Featherston was pronounced dead at the scene.
