Death by Force

On October 28, 2023, at approximately 9:59 p.m., Springfield police officers responded to reports of gunfire in the 2400 block of South Sheridan Boulevard. Upon arrival, they discovered 33-year-old Jacob "Jake" Gatten lying in the street with a gunshot wound. He was transported to a local hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
