In the early morning hours of October 30, 2023, a violent tragedy unfolded in the Mark Twain neighborhood of St. Louis, Missouri, claiming the life of 15-year-old Demetrius Hill, a Black male resident of the city. Officers from the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department were dispatched to the 4900 block of Leahy Avenue at approximately 1:30 a.m. following reports of a shooting.
Upon their arrival at the scene, first responders discovered the teenager lying in the middle of the street, having sustained multiple gunshot wounds.
Despite the immediate response of emergency personnel, the injuries proved fatal, and Hill was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities later confirmed that the young victim resided just blocks away in the 4500 block of Queens Avenue.
