On July 23, 2024, at approximately 5 a.m., law enforcement officers responded to a distress call from a woman reporting she had been shot at a mobile home in the 600 block of Martin Luther King Street, just outside the city limits of Amite, Louisiana. Upon arrival, officers discovered the bodies of 27-year-old Chrissy Jenkins and her boyfriend, 29-year-old Christopher Hedgewood, both of whom had suffered fatal gunshot wounds.
