In what has been described as a tragic and random act of violence, 37-year-old Jorge Andres Cantor Pinzon, a Hispanic male, was fatally shot on the afternoon of March 11, 2024, while riding a MetroBus in Berkeley, a suburb of St. Louis, Missouri. The incident unfolded at approximately 2:30 p.m. in the 8300 block of Airport Road when a man, later identified as Anthony Laron Frazier, used a stolen Dodge Caliber to block the path of the bus.
Frazier then boarded the bus and opened fire,
striking both Pinzon and another passenger, 34-year-old Jaron Jackson-Craig. After the initial shots from outside the bus, Frazier entered the vehicle and fired more shots. Both victims were transported to a local hospital where they succumbed to their injuries. The investigation, led by the Major Case Squad of Greater St. Louis, quickly identified Frazier as the suspect. The vehicle he used had been reported stolen in a carjacking earlier that day in Bellefontaine Neighbors.
Authorities apprehended Anthony Frazier, 36, on the same day of the shooting. The motive behind the attack on Pinzon was reportedly a perceived slight; Frazier told investigators he felt 'disrespected' because Pinzon had 'stared at him the wrong way' earlier in the day. Jackson-Craig was described as an unfortunate bystander caught in the tragic events.
Frazier has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder, four counts of armed criminal action, one count of first-degree robbery, and unlawful use of a weapon. He is currently being held without bond. It was later revealed that Frazier has an extensive criminal history and had active warrants for his arrest at the time of the shooting.
