On May 5, 2024, 20-year-old Lanija Cooper and her 19-year-old brother, Marc Rhodes Jr., were fatally shot at their residence in the 10700 block of Wurdack Avenue in St. Louis County, Missouri. The suspect, 19-year-old Florissant resident Lamarr Harris, was previously in a romantic relationship with Cooper. He suspected her of slashing his new girlfriend's tire the previous evening. Harris took a Lyft to the siblings' home, armed with a .40 caliber weapon, to confront Cooper.
