On the morning of June 16, 2024, a violent incident unfolded in Glasgow Village, an unincorporated community within St. Louis County, Missouri. At approximately 8:30 a.m., peace in the neighborhood was disrupted by the sound of gunfire, prompting a rapid response from local law enforcement. ShotSpotter technology, which detects the acoustic signature of gunshots, alerted the St. Louis County Police Department to a potential shooting in the 10400 block of Balmoral Drive.
Simultaneously, emergency dispatchers received a 911 call reporting the disturbance, directing officers from the North County Precinct to the scene.
Upon arriving at the intersection of Balmoral Drive and Tay Road, first responders discovered a 30-year-old Black male, later identified as Terrell Finerson, lying on the ground. He was suffering from at least one gunshot wound. Despite the immediate presence of authorities, Finerson had sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The St. Louis County Police Department’s Bureau of Crimes Against Persons subsequently took over the case, launching a homicide investigation to uncover the circumstances leading to the fatal shooting.
In the days following the event, the community and family members mourned the loss, with funeral services for Finerson held later that month on June 29 at Grace Church. As detectives worked to piece together the events of that Sunday morning, no immediate arrests were made. Public reports from law enforcement indicated that no suspects had been identified or taken into custody in the initial aftermath of the crime.
