In the heat of a summer afternoon on July 20, 2024, the life of 20-year-old Kyle Anthony Taylor Jr. was tragically cut short in the Baden neighborhood of north St. Louis. A Black male, Taylor Jr. was found unresponsive in the street in the 800 block of Wall Street shortly before 2:00 p.m. Emergency medical services responded to the scene, but his gunshot wounds were too severe, and he was pronounced dead.
Known affectionately to his family and friends as 'Luh Kyle,' he was remembered for
his vibrant personality and the happiness he brought to those around him. In the wake of his death, the community gathered to honor his memory, holding a memorial service on August 1, 2024, at the Greater St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church. Vigils of candlelight and shared memories illuminated the profound sense of loss felt by his loved ones.
The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department's Homicide Division is actively investigating the circumstances that led to the fatal shooting. Despite their ongoing efforts, no arrests have been made in connection with the death of Kyle Anthony Taylor Jr., and no suspects have been publicly identified.
