On July 29, 2024, at approximately 2:50 p.m., St. Louis Metropolitan Police officers responded to a shooting at Kaiser's Grand Mart, located at 5008 South Grand Boulevard in the Dutchtown neighborhood. Upon arrival, they found 62-year-old Mack A. Wagner, a long-time employee of the store, unconscious and barely breathing due to a gunshot wound. Wagner was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly before 4 p.m.
