On a summer evening in 2015, the life of 27-year-old Marvin Carter, a Black male, was tragically cut short in the Wells-Goodfellow neighborhood of St. Louis, Missouri. The incident, which unfolded on June 29th, stemmed from a domestic dispute. Carter was discovered inside a residence with multiple gunshot wounds to his torso, chest, and arm. Despite immediate medical attention and being rushed to a local hospital, he succumbed to his injuries.
The investigation revealed a grim backstory
of domestic turmoil. Earlier that evening, a 30-year-old woman at the residence had been involved in an argument with her ex-boyfriend, 25-year-old Camarion Beal. Later that night, Beal returned to the home and opened fire, striking both Carter and the woman. The female victim sustained multiple gunshot wounds to her leg and required medical treatment. Present in the home at the time of the shooting were the woman's three children, one of whom she shared with Beal.
In the wake of the shooting, Camarion Beal was identified as the suspect and subsequently apprehended by law enforcement. He faced a litany of serious charges, including first-degree murder for the death of Marvin Carter, first-degree domestic assault, and two counts of armed criminal action. Citing the severity of the alleged crimes and Beal's extensive criminal history, which included prior incidents of domestic violence, he was held without bond pending legal proceedings.
