Shaylaah Rochelle Brown, a 26-year-old woman from Compton, California, tragically lost her life on June 14, 2020. On that fateful night, Brown was waiting at a red light near Dwight Avenue and Compton Boulevard when a person on a homemade-style minibike approached her vehicle and opened fire. The assailant, described as wearing a camo-print jacket, a blue hooded sweatshirt, and dark jeans, shot Brown in the head.
Despite the presence of her 2-year-old daughter in the backseat and a man in the front passenger seat who suffered a graze wound, Brown was pronounced dead at the scene at 11:25 p.m.
The investigation into Brown's death revealed that the shooter fled north on Dwight Avenue immediately after the attack. Authorities conducted searches at the homes of several boys and young men, but it remains unclear if any arrests were made.
