Chloe Hunter, a 17-year-old girl from Compton, California, tragically lost her life on September 30, 2018, in a shooting incident. She had graduated early from Bellflower High School and was taking classes at Cerritos College while working three jobs to save money for her education. to meet a friend at the event. Unfortunately, she was one of four people shot that day. While the other three victims survived, Chloe succumbed to her injuries at the hospital.
The shooting occurred in the 200 block of North Long Beach Avenue, near a school carnival at the Optimal Child Development Center. Chloe was struck by gunfire as she was getting out of her car to watch a friend dance at the carnival. Despite her efforts to drive herself to the hospital, she lost too much blood and was pronounced dead at 7:30 p.m. The cause of death was listed as gunshot wounds to the chest. The other victims, a 14-year-old girl, a 19-year-old man, and a 40-year-old man, sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
