On August 16, 2024, a tragic incident occurred in Freeman, Missouri, resulting in the deaths of 47-year-old Michael Spear and his 27-year-old son, Brian Spear. The Cass County Sheriff's Office responded to reports of a shooting at an apartment near Main and Washington streets around 1 p.m. Upon arrival, deputies found both men suffering from gunshot wounds; one was pronounced dead at the scene, and the other succumbed to his injuries at a local hospital.
