On August 16, 2024, a tragic incident unfolded in Freeman, Missouri, resulting in the deaths of 47-year-old Michael Spear and his 27-year-old son, Brian Spear. The Cass County Sheriff's Office responded to reports of a shooting near North Washington and West Main Street around 1 p.m. Upon arrival, deputies found both men suffering from gunshot wounds; Michael was pronounced dead at the scene, while Brian succumbed to his injuries at a local hospital.
