On July 23, 2023, at approximately 7:38 p.m., deputies from the Cass County Sheriff's Office responded to reports of a shooting on Lakeview Drive in the Lake Annette area near Freeman, Missouri. Upon arrival, they discovered 65-year-old Edward Demoussett lying in the roadway, with another individual attempting CPR. Emergency medical personnel pronounced Demoussett dead at the scene.
