On the evening of July 23, 2023, deputies from the Cass County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to a disturbance in the rural community of Freeman, Missouri. Around 7:38 p.m., authorities arrived at the scene on Lakeview Drive within the Lake Annette area following reports of a shooting. Upon their arrival, they discovered 65-year-old Edward Demoussett lying in the roadway.
