On September 18, 2024, at approximately midnight, Kansas City police responded to reports of a shooting at a gas station located near 31st Street and Brooklyn Avenue. Upon arrival, officers discovered 45-year-old Freddie V. Jackson lying in the parking lot with gunshot wounds; he was pronounced dead at the scene.
