LeQuint Gerron Allen Sr., a 42-year-old Black male from Millville, New Jersey, was fatally shot on Valentine's Day, February 14, 2023. The incident occurred around 5:13 p.m. in the 600 block of Newport Road in Lawrence Township. When New Jersey State Police arrived at the scene, they discovered Allen suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was quickly transported to Inspira Medical Center in Vineland, where he was pronounced dead.
The investigation into the shooting led to the swift
arrest of 47-year-old Thomas Baker Jr., also a resident of Millville, on the following day, February 15, 2023. Authorities allege that the tragic event began with a verbal altercation instigated by Baker, which escalated to the point of him fatally shooting Allen. Baker was subsequently charged with first-degree murder, second-degree unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon by a convicted person, and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.
LeQuint Allen Sr. was remembered as a beloved father, son, brother, and friend. Born in Bridgeton, New Jersey, he was a gifted athlete in his youth, notably winning a varsity state wrestling championship as a freshman at Bridgeton High School. He is survived by his four children and a large extended family. The investigation into his death is ongoing, and authorities have requested that anyone with additional information come forward. Meanwhile, Thomas Baker Jr. is being detained while he awaits trial.
