On November 3, 2023, Karen Conner, 63, was found deceased in her Franklin Township, New Jersey, home from a single gunshot wound to the head. Her husband, 67-year-old Laurence D. Conner, was present at the scene when police arrived.

An autopsy conducted the following day confirmed Karen's death as a homicide. Subsequently, on November 8, authorities issued a warrant for Laurence's arrest, charging him with homicide and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.
