In the early morning hours of March 9, 2024, the McGinley Square neighborhood of Jersey City was disturbed by the sound of gunfire, an event that would mark the city's first homicide of the year. Thirty-three-year-old Christopher Terrero Marte, a male resident of Jersey City, was fatally wounded in the incident that unfolded on Jordan Avenue, between Mercer and Vroom Streets.
