On June 4, 2024, at approximately 9:30 p.m., a double shooting occurred on the 200-block of South Orange Avenue in Newark, New Jersey. Officers responding to reports of shots fired discovered two men suffering from gunshot wounds. Both victims were transported to University Hospital; one, later identified as 27-year-old Ty’Shon Young of Newark, was pronounced dead at 9:57 p.m. The second victim, a 25-year-old man, was hospitalized with injuries.
