In the early evening of June 13, 2024, the sounds of gunfire shattered the peace at Boys Park in Newark, New Jersey. When police arrived at the scene on Sussex Avenue and Duryea Street around 9 p.m., they found a man suffering from gunshot wounds near the basketball court. The victim was identified as Raymeer Shakim Tarver, a 25-year-old male. He was rushed to University Hospital, but his injuries proved fatal, and he was pronounced dead at 9:42 p.m.
