In the late afternoon of August 27, 2024, tragedy struck in the city of Camden, New Jersey, forever altering the lives of a local family. That day, Brian Amari Still, a 17-year-old Black male with a bright and adventurous spirit, was fatally shot. The incident occurred just before 6 p.m. on the 1100 block of Everett Street, where officers from the Camden County Police Department discovered Still lying in the street with a gunshot wound.
He was rushed to Cooper University Hospital, but his life could not be saved, and he was pronounced dead at 6:49 p.m.
Brian, who was born on August 26, 2007, was known for his expansive smile and limitless compassion. Described as having an old soul, he was deeply committed to his family and filled their lives with laughter and wisdom beyond his years. A proud member of the Collingswood Panthers and Camden Bulldogs football teams, he channeled his energy and spirit into every play. Off the field, he had a passion for coding, showcasing his love for problem-solving and technology. His warm presence and vibrant personality left a lasting impact on everyone he knew.
The investigation into Brian’s death moved swiftly. Less than a day after the shooting, authorities arrested a 17-year-old male from Woodbury in connection with the fatal incident. The suspect, whose name has not been publicly released due to his age, was charged with first-degree murder and weapons offenses. Following his arrest, he was taken to the Camden County Juvenile Detention Center. While an arrest has been made, the investigation remains ongoing as the community mourns the loss of a young life full of promise.
