In a tragic turn of events, 17-year-old Opium 'Dante' Leverette lost his life on September 22, 2024, in Trenton, New Jersey. The incident unfolded in the afternoon, around 12:32 p.m., when police responded to a ShotSpotter activation in the vicinity of Parkside and Homan avenues. Upon their arrival, officers discovered Leverette with a gunshot wound to his back. He was quickly transported to Capital Health Regional Medical Center, but tragically succumbed to his injuries a short time later.
