On September 22, 2024, at approximately 12:32 p.m., Trenton police responded to a ShotSpotter activation near Parkside and Homan Avenues. Upon arrival, officers discovered 17-year-old Trenton resident Opium "Dante" Leverette suffering from a gunshot wound to the back. Despite immediate medical attention and transportation to Capital Health Regional Medical Center, Leverette was pronounced dead at 1:09 p.m.
