In a tragic turn of events on January 11, 2023, a Virginia Beach car crash escalated into a homicide investigation, claiming the life of 33-year-old Gregory James Smith Jr. of Newport News. The incident unfolded near the intersection of Spring and Featherstone Courts when the vehicle Smith was driving crashed into an apartment building.
