On the evening of April 5, 2023, in the 900 block of Brook Avenue in Suffolk, Virginia, the life of 18-year-old Quadaire Jordan was tragically cut short. Just before 10 p.m., emergency services received a call about a person being shot. Arriving at the scene, police officers discovered Jordan on the ground, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Paramedics provided immediate medical attention before rushing him to a local hospital.
Despite their efforts, Quadaire Jordan, a male, succumbed to his injuries later that night.
The investigation into the shooting quickly pointed to a suspect. The following day, on April 6, 2023, 18-year-old Rashad Pierre Lewis of Suffolk turned himself in to the police. Authorities had already identified him as the alleged perpetrator and secured warrants for his arrest. Initially, Lewis faced charges of second-degree murder, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and possession of a firearm by a felon. He was held without bond at the Western Tidewater Regional Jail.
As the legal process unfolded, the charges against Rashad Pierre Lewis were elevated. On July 25, 2023, a grand jury indicted him on a charge of first-degree murder, in addition to the previous charges. The investigation into the circumstances surrounding Quadaire Jordan's death remained ongoing as authorities encouraged anyone with additional information to come forward. A funeral service to honor Quadaire's life was held on April 17, 2023, at Union Baptist Missionary Church, followed by his burial at Carver Memorial Cemetery.
