On the evening of June 22, 2023, in Danville, Virginia, 43-year-old Joe Arnold Martin was fatally shot while seated in a vehicle on the 1600 block of Washington Street. Responding to reports of gunfire around 8:15 p.m., police officers arrived to find Martin suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite immediate life-saving efforts and transportation to SOVAH Health, Martin was pronounced dead shortly thereafter.
