In the early morning hours of February 3, 2024, the life of 30-year-old Chadrick Stephanos Fink, a Black/African American male, was tragically cut short in Wytheville, Virginia. At approximately 2:34 a.m., Wytheville Police responded to reports of gunfire in the 500 block of West Spiller Street. Upon their arrival, they discovered Fink in the street with a fatal gunshot wound to his head.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation into the shooting quickly led authorities to a suspect. Based on witness descriptions of the individual and the vehicle involved, police were able to locate the vehicle at 395 East Jefferson Street. There, they apprehended 19-year-old Cameron Riley Kinder of Wytheville without incident. A firearm was also recovered at the time of his arrest.
Following the investigation, Cameron Riley Kinder was charged with first-degree murder and the use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. He was subsequently held without bond at the New River Valley Regional Jail. Chadrick Fink's body was transported to the Medical Examiner's Office in Roanoke for an autopsy. Those who knew him remembered his generous spirit and contagious smile.
