Walter R. McClintock, the Chief of Police in Wytheville, Virginia, tragically lost his life on December 19, 1908, at the age of 39. Chief McClintock was killed in the line of duty while attempting to arrest two brothers on robbery charges. The incident occurred on Main Street, in front of the Wythe County Courthouse.
