Carlos Marcell Moore, a 30-year-old male, was fatally shot in the early morning hours of May 23, 2024, in Manassas, Virginia. Moore, a loving father of two, was known as a talented tattoo artist, singer, and rapper. He was born on June 28, 1993, in Prince William, Virginia, and graduated from Fairfax High School in 2011. Those who knew him described him as a kind-hearted and special individual who could always make people laugh and would do anything for those in need. He had a passion for mechanics and was known for his ability to fix things.
On the evening of May 22, 2024, a verbal altercation occurred between Moore and another man in the 12000 block of Cadet Court in Manassas. In the early hours of the following day, while Moore and another individual were sleeping inside a vehicle in the same area, multiple gunshots were fired into the car. Moore was struck and killed, while the other occupant of the vehicle was unharmed.
Following an investigation into the fatal shooting, detectives identified 26-year-old Tavaris Maleek Eberhardt of Manassas as the suspect. Investigators determined that after the shooting, Eberhardt removed evidence from the scene before police arrived. A search warrant executed on a storage unit rented by Eberhardt led to the discovery of two firearms, though neither is believed to be the weapon used in the homicide.
On June 12, 2024, Tavaris Maleek Eberhardt was charged in connection with Carlos Marcell Moore's death. At the time the charges were filed, Eberhardt was already incarcerated at the Adult Detention Center on an unrelated matter. The charges against him include one count of murder, one count of using a firearm in the commission of a felony, two counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and one count of tampering with evidence. Eberhardt is being held without bond.
