On January 15, 2023, 54-year-old Christopher Humphries from Chesnee, South Carolina, was fatally shot on Richland Street. He was transported to Spartanburg Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 5:13 p.m.
The Spartanburg County Coroner's Office conducted an autopsy, revealing that Humphries died from a close-range shotgun wound to the lower abdomen, classifying his death as a homicide.
