In the quiet community of Chesnee, South Carolina, the life of 33-year-old Eddie Judson Richards, a male resident, came to a sudden and violent end on February 9, 2015. What was initially reported to the Spartanburg County Sheriff's deputies as a suicide at his Wilkie Bridge Road home was quickly determined to be a homicide. Richards had sustained a fatal gunshot wound to his head.
Within hours of the discovery, investigators had a confession from a 19-year-old Chesnee man, David Ronald
Boggs. In an interview with sheriff's deputies, Boggs admitted to fatally shooting Richards. The motive for the shooting was not publicly disclosed.
Following his arrest, Boggs faced the judicial system for his actions. On July 26, 2016, he pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter and possession of a weapon during a violent crime. A circuit judge sentenced David Ronald Boggs to a 25-year prison sentence for his role in the death of Eddie Judson Richards. Boggs had no prior criminal record before this conviction.
