In the quiet town of Gray Court, South Carolina, the evening of January 24, 2023, was shattered by an act of violence that claimed the life of 32-year-old Trevor D. Anderson. Around 8:30 p.m., deputies from the Laurens County Sheriff's Office and emergency medical services were dispatched to a residence on Gray Drive following a report of a gunshot wound. Upon their arrival, they discovered Anderson, a resident of Gray Court, suffering from a fatal gunshot wound.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation into the shooting was launched by the Laurens County Sheriff's Office, with assistance from the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division. Authorities soon identified a suspect in what they described as an isolated incident between two individuals. An autopsy was pending to formally determine the cause of death.
In connection with the homicide, the Laurens County Sheriff's Office sought the public's help in locating 35-year-old Roy Degerick Irby of Gray Court. A warrant was issued for his arrest on charges of murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime. On January 30, 2023, the Laurens County Sheriff's Office announced that Irby had been taken into custody.
