In the small town of Gray Court, South Carolina, the life of 15-year-old Quintavis J. Boston was cut tragically short on Wednesday, February 28, 2024. A 10th grader, Quintavis was identified by the Laurens County Coroner's Office following an incident involving what was described as a possible self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The Laurens County Sheriff's Office, in conjunction with the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division immediately began an active investigation into the circumstances
surrounding the teenager's death. News reports at the time characterized the shooting as possibly accidental.
Quintavis was the son of Latrice Jefferson and Quinton D. Boston. He is survived by his parents, four brothers, grandparents, and great-grandparents. His funeral service was held on Wednesday, March 6, 2024, at Mill Rock Baptist Church in Gray Court, followed by his burial in the church cemetery. As of late 2025, the investigation into his death remains ongoing, and no arrests have been announced in connection with the incident.
