In the early morning hours of March 26, 2023, the life of 21-year-old Brian Timothy Harris was tragically cut short in Spartanburg, South Carolina. A Black male, Harris was discovered inside a four-door sedan on Westview Boulevard, near Sunny's Market, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. First responders arrived at the scene around 1 a.m., but Harris was pronounced dead at the location.
The Spartanburg Police Department launched an investigation into the shooting, which was quickly
deemed a homicide. Their efforts led to the identification of a suspect, 25-year-old Donchevell Ja'Von 'D.J.' Briggs. Authorities subsequently issued warrants for Briggs's arrest on serious charges, including murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.
Despite law enforcement's efforts to locate him, as of late June 2023, Briggs remained at large. The police have appealed to the public for any information that could lead to his apprehension, encouraging community members to contact them or Crime Stoppers. The investigation into the death of Brian Timothy Harris is ongoing as authorities continue their search for the man they believe is responsible for the young man's death.
