In the quiet town of Simpsonville, South Carolina, a life was tragically cut short on a Sunday in early spring. Orenthia James Tomkins Jr., a 30-year-old Black male from the neighboring city of Greenville, was involved in a shooting on April 2, 2023. The events of that day would leave a family and community mourning a life taken too soon. Following the incident, he was rushed to a local hospital, but the severity of his injuries proved to be fatal, and he passed away the same day.
