In the spring of 2023, the life of 23-year-old Dontaveis 'ManMan' Rogers was tragically cut short in his hometown of Dillon, South Carolina. On Friday, April 28th, Rogers was fatally shot in a violent incident that also claimed the life of 18-year-old Ty'Quan Quilek 'DaeDae' Peterson. The double homicide occurred at the Dillon Manor Apartments, sending ripples of grief and shock through the local community.
A third individual was also wounded in the attack and required hospitalization.
Dontaveis Rogers, known for his warm smile and affection for his family and children, was born in Dillon on September 1, 1999. He was a graduate of the local public school system and was employed at Harbor Freight Tools and Perdue Farms. His sudden and violent death left his family, including his parents, siblings, and grandparents, to mourn a future that was taken too soon. Funeral services were held on Saturday, May 6th, 2023, at Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church, with his burial following at Resthaven Cemetery.
The investigation into the double murder led authorities to a suspect who was already in their custody. In early June 2023, the Dillon Police Department announced that they had charged Michael Blunt with two counts of murder in connection with the deaths of Dontaveis Rogers and Ty'Quan Peterson. At the time the murder charges were brought against him, Blunt was already incarcerated, having been arrested in late May and charged with three counts of attempted murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime related to a separate incident that occurred on May 25th.
