On April 29, 2023, at approximately 7 a.m., the body of 28-year-old Diequan Sammie Underwood was discovered along Highway 261 near Yorkridge Drive in Wedgefield, South Carolina. Underwood had sustained multiple gunshot wounds, and his death was classified as a homicide by the Sumter County Sheriff's Office.
