In the quiet, rural community of Wedgefield, South Carolina, a grim discovery was made on the morning of Saturday, October 12, 2024. The body of 20-year-old D’ante Jashaun Archie was found lying unconscious in the 5000 block of Byas Road. A 911 call brought Sumter County Sheriff's Office deputies to the scene at approximately 9:50 a.m. Upon their arrival, it was determined that Archie was deceased, having sustained fatal gunshot wounds. His vehicle was found parked nearby on the road.
