On a hot Monday afternoon, July 17, 2023, 39-year-old Quincy Tavares Harris, a Black man from Greenville, South Carolina, was at home on Douthit Street when sudden violence shattered the quiet of the neighborhood. Around early afternoon, a 911 call brought officers racing to the small house, where they found Quincy lying on the porch with a gunshot wound to his chest.
