In the early morning hours of Sunday, April 14, 2024, a house party in Spartanburg, South Carolina, turned tragic, ending the life of 19-year-old Waco Jermaine Crate Jr. A Black male from Gaffney, Crate was attending the gathering when gunfire erupted.
The Spartanburg Police Department received a call about a shooting at a residence on Michael Street at approximately 2:11 a.m. Upon arrival, officers discovered that Crate had been shot in the face.
The Spartanburg County Coroner's Office was called to the scene and pronounced him dead. An autopsy was scheduled to be performed to aid in the investigation.
