On May 7, 2024, at approximately 9:47 p.m., 34-year-old Rashaad Vernon Simmons was fatally shot on Johnson Street between America and Hanover Streets in Charleston, South Carolina. Officers from the Charleston Police Department responded to reports of gunfire and discovered Simmons, along with 38-year-old Derrik Rollerson Sr., both deceased from gunshot wounds at the scene.
